Designer of this year's Sheep Festival logo, Karen Tweed is respected internationally as a multi-faceted artist, teacher and creative.
Born in London in 1963, Karen studied Graphic Design (Printmaking) at Leeds, becoming a teacher of Art and Design in 1987.
Karen Tweed lives her inspiration through living in Orkney:
"The landscape of Orkney fires my creativity whether visually or sonically and the connection forged between what I see, hear, sense and draw is an endless celebration of nature.”
Attracted by the Bird Observatory in 2019, James is North Ronaldsay's newest artist in residence.
He has a background in Conservation, and it was his study of American Black Bears in Minnesota which first lead him to animal portraiture.
He has a passion for studying and observing wildlife which he translates into his work as a watercolour artist and photographer.
Since living on North Ronaldsay, the bountiful bird-life and famous seaweed eating sheep have provided endless inspiration - but the Black Bear will always be his first love.
